Christian Schoeler
“I grew up in a rural area on the outskirts of Düsseldorf. I was slim, almost androgynous and, until I was 17,I looked like a little girl. At some point I decided to shave my head and play football but, to be honest, it didn’t really work. Growing up in a small town in Germany in the late 90’s was neither easy nor fun”.
It happenssometimes that, just by chance, we bump into someone we admire for what he/she does, but whom we do not really know. At that point, if we look closely, we realize that the person spits while speaking or does not smell like we thought he/she would; perhaps because the gap between that other one and this one helped create a certain kind of beatification that made us think of him/her as a great entelechy.
The gap becomes enormous if the other lives in Germany, is one of the promises of contemporary art, and has been chosen to leave his mark on Vuitton’s latest collection; in the same way that many other great artists, like Murakami, Sprouse or Prince, did before.
However, Scholer says not to feel connected to any scene; he describes himself as a bird and says his paintings have helped him develop a strong sense of awareness of the vulnerability and transience of his own body.

Andrej Dubravsky
Czechoslovak artist, who lives and studies in Bratislava. At age 24 he has a distinct style. With a playful look of teenagers in Wonderland, faces taken from our worst dreams and best nightmares, Andrej recreates scenes that at a first sight might suggIest prostitution and hook. He uses this to provide them with a new meaning and to exchange the roles between victim and victimizer. In order to accomplish this he uses a recurrent picture, the rabbit, as a reflex of a youth without boundaries for the game. He places them into an atmosphere where the struggle for power, sex and money are fully exposed. When he does not use models to portray, he picks the most impressive faces from websites of amateur porn or gay chats in Czechoslovakia, to recreate the face he has in mind.
